Purpose-built for high volume, fail-safe data storage applications, the E-STOR F16fz RAID sets new standards in its class. It features a backplane design for sixteen hot-swappable 3Gb/s Serial ATA (SATA) disk drives, dual 4Gb/s LC Optical Fibre Channel host ports, N+1 load sharing power supplies with PFC, pure Aluminum case & components, and specially designed airflow passages. RAID Functionality E-STOR F16fz RAID is equipped with a 3Gb/s SATA-to-4Gb LC Optical SFP Fibre Channel RAID controller that offers fault-tolerant data protection. It is 100% transparent to the host operating system and requires no custom drivers. It is a full featured data protection subsystem supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, 3, 5, 6, and JBOD. RAID 6 allows for the simultaneous failure of two disk drives without data loss. It is the ideal storage solution for applications requiring high data throughput, availability, and flexibility in configuration. Serial ATA Features SATA's point-to-point signaling provides full bandwidth to each connected device, hot plug capability, smaller connectors, standardized connector placement and layout, simpler cabling and longer cable lengths. The cost advantages and performance of SATA can make it a compelling alternative to other technologies. Environmental Features System reliability of the E-STOR F16fz Serial ATA RAID is ensured by an environmental monitoring unit. The environmental monitoring unit monitors the internal environment of the disk enclosure such as power supplies, temperature, voltage and cooling fans. It not only tracks the enclosure temperature, but also monitors individual disk temperatures as well. If any irregularity in these systems occurs, the monitoring unit alerts the administrator with an audible alarm or remotely through its out-of-band Ethernet port or serial port. User Interface All major components including drives, power supplies and fans are redundant and removable for easy serviceability. The E-STOR F16fz RAID features an easy-to-read menu-driven LCD display of array/drive status and array configuration commands. It comes with fault and activity LEDs, Up, Select, Down and Exit buttons for easy operation. Design Features E-STOR F16fz RAID subsystems come with 16 hot-swappable 3Gb/s SATA disk drives and trays. Reliability is insured with load sharing hot swappable triple redundant (N+1) 300 Watt power supplies with PFC.
