I help manage a website where communication is the only key to success. When implementing Zimbra we where able to easily get up and running within an hour. We are now able to coordinate our local events and collaborate on new ideas that will drive our future success. Zimbra has really helped us integrate multiple tools into one reducing our overhead and redundant scheduling.

It is amazing how much you can do through a browser with Zimbra. The Ajaxy stuff is great (drag and drop appointments in your calendar, etc.) -- but what makes this application powerful is its integration. For example, if someone sends you an email suggesting -- in plain text -- that you get together next Tuesday, Zimbra will interpret the date and add it to your calendar with a click. Zimbra's open APIs have resulted in some very *practical* mash-ups that could really save business users time. For example, Zimbra recognizes Fedex tracking numbers and performs a web service call to the shipping number in order to display more details. You can imagine making similar calls to retrieve information about internal POs, SKUs, etc. The only drawback at this stage is that the browser is simply not as reactive as a fat client. If you are churning through mountains of email, it may make sense to point your mail client at the Zimbra server. Even if you do this, toggling back and forth between - say Thunderbird - and the Zimbra web-based interface is easy.

We moved to Zimbra several months back after using just sendmail. So far am pretty impressed-- life with group calendar is nice.

Our organization deployed Zimbra and we love it. Most of our users are using the web client which is great, but many others of us are using Outlook, Apple clients, etc.

I have been running Zimbra for almost 6 months, and I could not be more pleased with it. I have used other collaboration suites, and the features and flexibility of Zimbra is just outstanding. Under the hood are all of our Open Source favorites, postfix, mysql, amavisd, clamav and the like. On top of that, the Zimbra folks added interoperability with about every mail client under the sun, and then they put an Ajax web client on top of it. I am quite happy with it and have recommended to friends and coworkers who were even casually considering setting a mail server.
